Bacteriostatic Water 10ml

Bacteriostatic water is a sterile water with a small preservative (usually 0.9% benzyl alcohol) used mainly in 10ml vials for reconstituting multi-dose medications and peptides, diluting injectables for accurate dosing, preparing small-volume parenteral solutions, and repeated laboratory access. Key benefits: antimicrobial preservation that permits multiple withdrawals when handled properly, longer usability than plain sterile water, reduced waste, dosing convenience from the 10ml format, and versatility for clinical, research, and personal use.

Bacteriostatic Water for Peptide Research

The formulation described contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, equivalent to 9 mg/mL, as a preservative to inhibit bacterial growth. Pharmaceutical preparations are manufactured as sterile solutions, but equivalent quality should not be assumed for a separately supplied research product without supporting evidence.

For peptide reconstitution, confirm compatibility with both the compound and the assay. Bacteriostatic water is not automatically suitable for every peptide or protein, and its composition may affect sensitive laboratory measurements.

Bacteriostatic Water vs Sterile Water

Bacteriostatic water, sometimes called BAC water, contains an antimicrobial preservative. Sterile water for injection contains no added bacteriostat and is generally supplied for single-dose use.

The presence of benzyl alcohol does not guarantee freedom from contamination after opening. Repeated access still requires aseptic technique, and a contaminated preparation must not be considered safe simply because bacterial growth is inhibited. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact product supplied.

Reconstitution and Laboratory Use

Select the diluent according to a validated protocol rather than convenience alone. Confirm the required concentration, mixing procedure and conditions for the prepared material.

The shelf life of the original solvent does not establish the stability of a reconstituted peptide. Record preparation details and follow compound-specific guidance for subsequent storage and analysis. Where the product is labelled for research use, restrict its application to laboratory research.

Storage and Shelf Life

Follow the storage conditions printed on the product label. Some pharmaceutical formulations specify 20–25°C, but this should not replace the instructions for your particular supply. Protect the container from conditions outside its documented limits.

For a multidose vial, record the first-puncture date. General guidance recommends disposal within 28 days unless the manufacturer specifies another period; the printed expiry date must not be exceeded. Discard sooner if contamination is suspected or the seal is compromised.

Ordering Bacteriostatic Water from Smart Peptides

Confirm current pricing, stock availability and delivery terms before arranging supply. Check the applicable dispatch cutoff, shipping charge and free-delivery threshold at checkout.

Request documentation relevant to the supplied product. An HPLC certificate alone does not establish sterility or non-pyrogenicity; these claims require appropriate supporting tests. Clear specifications and traceable records help laboratories assess whether the product meets their requirements.
